My name is Becky Jerams. I was born on 26th June 1987 and I currently live in a little flat by the sea in Southsea, UK.
Over the past few years I have been involved with many different creative projects to do with music and the written word. Here is a little bit about myself and my work!
I have been writing songs since I was around 14 years old when I used to arrange little samples on music mixing games and record toplines over them. From there I evolved onto playing basic piano/guitar and writing my own chords to sit my melodies and lyrics onto. Inspired by artists such as Alanis Morisette, Tori Amos and Liz Phair I spent many years experimenting with different styles and trying to find my sound. I discovered that I loved writing in a wide variety of genres and was always eager to try something new.
Throughout the whole of my musical career I have always tried to remember that teenage girl recording scruffy demos in the living room and writing from the heart. I hope that I have done her justice and made her proud! Because now over a decade later I am lucky enough to be living out many of my musical dreams and it's hard to believe it all started with a few keyboard notes recorded through a fuzzy microphone!
My songs have been used around the world on various TV spots and adverts, and I am lucky enough to write on a regular basis with international hit songwriters and producers. I am always writing and pitching out tracks through my publishing company DWB and sometimes I even get to attend super exciting songwriting camps which is absolutely amazing and a dream come true! Please check out the Placements page at the top for a detailed list of all my music placements :)
I have learned so much over the years from all the people I have been lucky enough to meet and work with and I am always open to collaborations with others. I am also available for session vocals and live performances. If you ever want to get together and make beautiful music, just give me a shout on my Contact page!
Although songwriting is my main musical passion, I do also go out and perform live gigs on a regular basis, usually with my guitarist Chris or pianist Matt in tow (my little acoustic band, how I love them!)
I have supported some fantastic musicians in the past including Amy Studt, Hafdis Huld and Alistair Griffin. I even dabbled in bands back when I went to music college at Access To Music in Brighton (and who could forget our legendary first-year rendition of My Sharona?!) However, nowadays I much prefer gentle, acoustic venues with listening audiences. If you have a venue that fits that bill then please do get in touch as I would almost certainly love to play sometime.
As well as music, I have recently delved into the world of Young Adult fiction, which is something that has caught me very much by surprise and somewhat taken over my whole life (in a good way). My debut novel Reasons To Love A Nerd Like Me is now available on Amazon Kindle after reaching 2.4 million hits on the free-read website Wattpad in first draft form.
The story is about a gay teenager named Scotty and his complicated love life. If you would like to know more about the story then please check out the Books page at the top. I have been so inspired by the young people who have read and connected with my story in some way and I hope to continue writing stories about these characters as well as other social issues that affect teens.
I absolutely love hearing from my readers and I post up any fan covers or art I receive on here as well as on my Facebook and Tumblr, so if you have any kind of creation inspired by my stories then please get in touch!
I guess that is just about everything that is worth knowing about me. If you are interested in any of my work and would like to get in contact then please just send a message my way and I'll do my best to get back to you as quickly as possible :) Thanks a lot!
